Student Membership

The membership of the IBSL is a main requirement to obtain professional qualifications offered by the Institute. Any applicant who fulfils the entry qualifications is qualified to obtain the student membership.

Student Membership is open to:

    • Bank Employees
    • Non Bank Employees
    • School Leavers

Any person with the prescribed entry qualifications may obtain student membership.

Minimum Entry Qualifications for New Student Registrations - DBF/ HDBF Professional Programme:

  • GCE (A/L) in Sri Lanka in any stream having three (03) simple passes in one sitting or equivalent foreign examination OR
  • A Degree from a recognized university in Sri Lanka / Foreign Degree approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) OR
  • Professional qualification from a recognized professional institute in Sri Lanka or abroad OR
  • Part qualification of a professional/academic institute in Sri Lanka or abroad subject to the condition that the level should be equivalent to Level 2 of the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF)/ NVQ 4 of National Vocational Qualification Levels of Sri Lanka subject to the approval of the Institute OR
  • Mature Entry: Those employed in the Banking /Finance industry and over 18 years of age with a minimum of eight (08) years of experience proved by a recommendation letter from the employer are considered for registration under this category subject to the approval of the institute OR
  • Any other qualification approved by the Institute.

01. Create a new student account through My IBSL portal by completing the application form. The following documents should be uploaded:

Scanned copy of the original or certified copy of the relevant Entry Qualification(s)

Scanned copy of the National Identity Card – Please upload both sides of the original NIC

A passport size colour photograph

Note: Certification as a true copy by a JP / Attorney at Law / Gramasevaka / Bank Manager / School Principal etc.

02. Once your My IBSL account is created you will receive an email with a link and click on the link to re-confirm your registration.

03. When your application is approved by the IBSL, you will receive another email containing your username and password.

04. Log into My IBSL account as a Student Member by using the username and password sent to you.

05. Complete the Student Membership application form and make due payments online through IBSL website and submit the application form.

06. Once your application is approved by the IBSL, you will receive an email with the IBSL Student Registration Number.

07. You will receive a registration confirmation letter through registered post along with the Student Identity Card.
